101 Ways Event: WTF is contracting…!?

Drumroll please… The first get together for WTF! (Women’s Tech Focus) is only a week away! Following the hugely positive reaction to the launch of the group on International Women’s Day, we’re really looking forward to meeting you in person and figuring out how we can help and support one another.
Taking place on Wednesday 11th April from 6pm to 8pm at WeWork, Old Street (41 Corsham Street) we’ll be saying: ‘WTF is Contracting!?’. Thinking specifically about the underrepresentation of women in technical careers, there’s an obvious imbalance when looking at the number of female freelance consultants or contractors.
At 101 Ways we have a several women who have made the leap, so we’ll be talking about our personal experience (the good and the bad!), discuss how to make contracting work for you, encourage people to share their stories and answer any questions you may have.
Plus, we’ll be joined by Sophie Lewis and Jaime Thorpe from Dolan Accountancy to discuss the practicalities and tax implications of setting up your own business and going freelance.
There will be refreshments, plenty of opportunity for networking and casual conversation, and discussions about how WTF! can grow and support women in tech going forward – because we want this to be something great that everyone can be part of.
Places are limited and tickets are going fast, so register for your free place here!
This will be the start of many WTF! events so spread the word, come along and get involved.
For more information, please feel free to get in touch with any of the WTF! team: Emma Hopkinson-Spark, Ally Mitchell or Devon North.
