101 Ways Welcomes its Newest Leader: Technical Director Grant Smith

We are excited to announce that Grant Smith has joined the 101 Ways team as Technical Director. With over 20 years of experience creating and leading high-performance teams in some of the world’s fastest-growing companies, Grant perfectly complements our existing leadership team — Founder Kelly Waters, CEO Zane Gambasin, Chief of Staff Emma Hopkinson-Spark, Director Mike Dixon and Technology Director Michael Seipp. Our team already boasts well over 101 years of combined experience using technology to bring about successful product development and delivery, and has just gotten stronger.

Grant Smith, Technical Director at 101 Ways

Prior to 101 Ways, Grant was Head of Strategy and Architecture, DevOps for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). He built and led a team to drive innovation in infrastructure automation which resulted in a reduction in environment provisioning from over a week, to just a few minutes.

What’s more, he devised a capability, training and mentoring strategy that led to the formation of a DevOps engineer training programme that is still championed today.

Before this, Grant worked with scaling companies leading digital cloud transformation — before it became fashionable. AOL, British Gas, Electronic Arts and Just Eat all benefited from Grant’s implementation of infrastructure as code and integration of driven applications from continuous build systems. Thanks to Grant…

  • Millions of players per day have enjoyed cloud-based game platforms.
  • Billions have visited websites per month.
  • Europe has been given its largest ever Internet of Things platform.

Grant’s impressive history speaks to exactly how instrumental he will be in providing technical direction to 101 Ways’ clients, large and small alike, as they embark upon their journey to digital transformation. Alongside our team of product, tech, delivery, and transformation specialists, Grant will provide clients with the invaluable advice, leadership, coaching, and product delivery they need to succeed.

In addition to being a respected industry speaker, Grant authored the ‘Next Gen DevOps’ book which distilled the essence of DevOps into an easily implementable framework. Specifically, it outlined exactly how forward-thinking organisations could use the power of DevOps to build digitally transformative businesses. Click here to find out more.

We want to welcome Grant to the team, and we’re excited to see the 101 Ways that Grant will transform what the future holds for us and our customers!
