101 min WebAssembly hack/demo

by 101 Ways, 12 April 2019

Date: Wednesday 1st May 2019

Location: The Cooperage, 5 Copper Row, London, SE1 2LH

Time: 6.30 pm- 9.00 pm

Not familiar with WebAssembly? You soon will be.

Web Assembly is an emerging web standard intended as a complement to Javascript; it allows web apps to be coded in a variety of languages with near-native in-browser performance.

Is this the future of the web? Why not come find out for yourselves…

101 Ways CTO, Odhrán McConnell will be providing an ‘Intro to WebAssembly’, followed by a more in-depth demo with Consultant Engineer, Carlos Baraza. Then we’ll hand over to you, the audience, to try coding a simple demo compiling to WebAssembly. Don’t worry if you get stuck, we’ll be there to help you along the way.

18:30 – Arrival: drinks and food

19:00 – Introduction to WebAssembly – Odhrán McConnell

19:20 – WebAssembly Coding Demo – Carlos Baraza

19:40 – DIY group coding session

If you want to participate in the coding session – which we hope you do – don’t forget to bring a laptop you’re happy to code on!

As always, we’ll be serving up some of the tastiest food in London – this time we’ll have a selection of mouthwatering treats from Mother Clucker and Temple of Seitan (for the vegans among you), so come hungry! Drinks will also be free-flowing to help you limber up those discerning taste buds of yours…

The event will be held at Zoopla’s offices on 1 May 2019. Arrive any time from 6:30pm and the workshops will begin at 7pm sharp!

We look forward to seeing you there!

what community members are saying about our events..

"It was a super valuable event for me, definitely something different being more interactive and I was actually engaged with the wider group at this event, rather than just speaking to one person. The Speakers stayed and mingled with the group too"
