We will be joined by three inspirational CTO’s with diverse backgrounds, who will share their thoughts and experiences on the skills required to become a next-generation CTO. They will share insights into their own journeys and learnings and will provide advice on the best steps to take to transition from senior technology leader to technology executive.

Introducing the speakers.

Christina Scott

Christina is the Global Head of Emerging Technology at News Corp and CTO of News UK overseeing both Technology & Product functions.

Christina was formerly at the Financial Times, where she held the titles of CIO, Chief Product and Information Officer and Senior Vice President of Technology for the Pearson Professional arm of parent company Pearson.

Christina has more than 20 years experience in the IT industry, having previously worked in technology teams at a number of companies including the BBC, FT and ITV Digital, where she specialised in digital transformation.

In 2018 Christina was ranked third in CIO 100, which recognises the most transformative and disruptive CIOs in the UK, and previously has been highly recognised in a number of top technology and female executive rankings.

Shaun Pearce

Shaun is the CTO of one of the fastest-growing companies in the UK - Gousto. His team is responsible for all aspects of technology, including website and mobile apps as well as the systems used to manage Gousto’s order management, supply chain, warehouse and automated pick lines.

Shaun started his career at Accenture working as a software developer, however soon progressed to leading technology teams for clients such as the BBC and Discovery Channel helping them to develop content management and VOD platforms.

After a number of projects leading the design and implementation of web platforms on AWS, Shaun decided to join Amazon as an AWS Solutions Architect. After 2 years at AWS helping retail customers to design and implement modern microservice platforms he joined Gousto where he has spent the last few years building great teams and delivering some very cool tech.

Patrick Kua

Patrick is a seasoned technology leader with 20+ years of experience. His current mission is accelerating the growth of technical leaders through coaching, mentoring and training.

Pat has had many years of hands-on experience, leading, managing and improving complex organisations and software systems as the CTO and Chief Scientist of N26 (Berlin, Germany) and as a Technical Principal Consultant at ThoughtWorks.

He is a frequent keynote and conference speaker, author of three books including The Retrospective Handbook, Talking with Tech Leads and Building Evolutionary Architectures and runs the free popular newsletter for leaders in tech, “Level Up” and the Tech Lead Academy, offering online training for technical leaders. .
