Kelly - Founder & CEO

Kelly is the founder and CEO of 101 Ways.

With over 30 years experience in the software industry, Kelly has a deep understanding of the tech space and what it takes to bring about successful product development and delivery.

Having begun his career originally as a developer, Kelly has gained a broad exposure to a range of different roles from Tech Lead and Project Manager through to Director of Engineering and CTO.

In 2010, Kelly was recognised for his work by the agile community when he won an award for being the ‘Most Valuable Agile Player in the UK’. In 2016 he also won an award for ‘most popular online contributor’ in the agile community.

Kelly continues to help shape the ‘agile’ debate both in the UK and abroad through a combination of regular industry speaking engagements and events as well as via his well-established blog.

Meanwhile, 101 Ways is going from strength to strength, quickly becoming one of the most sought-after technology consultancies in London.

Zane - COO

Zane is the COO of 101 Ways and combines this role alongside working for clients as an executive consultant. He is an expert in agile project/programme delivery and leadership.

Zane has more than 20 years experience in the software industry working in all aspects across development, business analysis, project management, development management and programme management.

Among his skills, Zane is well respected by clients and colleagues alike for his ability to build strong teams and align product and tech through practical agile techniques - enabling the delivery of quality digital, big data and integration solutions amongst others.

Prior to joining 101 Ways in 2016, Zane worked as a Delivery Principal for ThoughtWorks in Australia and the UK for close to 5 years, before which he had more than 10 years working for one of Australia’s largest software companies, TechnologyOne.

In his career to date, Zane has helped a variety of world-leading organisations in telco, financial services, media/publishing and e-commerce with agile project delivery and transformation.

Odhrán  CTO

Odhrán joined 101 Ways in March 2017. He has more than 20 years experience developing software, leading technical teams and providing leadership up to Board level.

Before being persuaded to make the move to 101 Ways by Kelly and Zane, he had spent 9 years working with The Guardian – one of the UK’s leading and best-known publishers.

At the time of leaving The Guardian, Odhrán was the Head of Software Development, where he led a team of 80 developers and held ultimate responsibility for producing the Guardian’s website, as well as the Guardian’s much-awarded app for Android and iOS.

As you might expect, Odhrán is a passionate advocate of all-things-tech and can frequently be found leading talks and discussions at 101 Ways’ Tech Club, ‘IWOMM’ (It Works On My Machine), among his favourite topics is his much-loved Commodore 64 – the machine he first learnt to code on.

Emma  Director

Emma began working with 101 Ways in 2015, bringing around 20 years experience in development, delivery, consulting, training and coaching with her. She has broad industry experience across public and private sectors – supporting organisations as they evolve their development, delivery and product capability.

As well as Emma’s client consulting, she’s also been very much involved with a number of the tech community’s industry bodies and organisations, helping to further develop and improve professional standards.

In this area, Emma’s worked with the Scrum Alliance to develop certification standards and examinations for the Certified Scrum Professional programme. Emma also serves on their European Gathering Team developing the program for the Global Scrum Gatherings in Europe.

In 2012, Emma was awarded a UK Agile Award, going on to become an awards judge.

Mike  Director

Mike joined 101 Ways in November 2016, coming into the business having built up over 17 years experience across product, delivery, software development, data, adtech, martech, and analytics.

Prior to joining 101 Ways, he worked with a variety of large, UK and international organisations and brands, each with multi-million unique users. Helping them to develop and deliver high volume, cross-platform digital and ecommerce platforms. In the course of his career he’s also consulted on key data and analytics projects for multinational telecoms, industrial, and travel industry clients.

In his role at 101 Ways, Mike continues to work with clients to develop and drive the next generation of digital product innovation.

Outside of his client work, Mike started 101 Ways’ own Product Club, and he’s a leading advocate for Product Management, lean transformation, and agile delivery.

Michael  Director

Michael first started working with 101 Ways in July 2016 as Delivery Director working alongside Kelly on a major project for Just Eat. He’s also a key member of the 101 Ways’ Crew and Leadership teams.

Prior to joining 101 Ways, Michael had gained more than 16 years experience in the technology and digital sectors in a combination of software development and delivery roles.

Michael has a real passion for solving the problems that are realised when organisations are trying to deliver at scale and, among his previous positions, he’s worked as a consultant for clients such as the UK Government Digital Service’s gov.uk (GDS), where the challenges don’t get much bigger!

From other lives, Michael also brings a real depth of experience working with Media giants such as ITV and Sky on streaming platforms, as well as time spent working with some of the big beasts within the financial services sector where he led major e-commerce projects.

Michael describes himself as, ‘more of an Agile centre forward than an Agile coach’. A real team player, he’s someone who prefers to be on the pitch, rather than shouting from the sidelines.

Devon  Director

Devon joined 101 Ways in June 2016, replacing Kelly at a key client so he could focus on building 101 Ways. Devon has 30 years experience in engineering across Media, Finance and Utilities and has been an interim director at several large organisations. Devon has 10 years experience focusing on large Data Programmes, investigating where companies can gain understanding and drive business focus using data. Devon has run large scale Agile and Technology transformations across global companies, focusing on building great functioning, effective teams. Working with Execs to understand ROI and cost of ownership of Products whilst delivering at pace.

Jamie  Client Partner, NL

Jamie joined the team at 101 Ways in autumn 2016 and, alongside Ally, has been responsible for leading the charge in finding the very best talent to work on a range of major client projects.

Jamie’s exposure to technology spans a decade and in that time, he’s worked with a number of well-known businesses in the worlds of media and finance (among others). And although much of his career to-date has been focused in the area of talent acquisition, he’s also spent time running a digital agency as well as having been part of a tech startup.

In the time he’s been with the business, Jamie is particularly proud of being part of 101’s growth – in terms of both the team growth as well as its reputation.

Jamie has been instrumental in helping to develop the 101 Ways community through a range of social events and clubs and is now in a customer facing role helping us to build great client partnerships, particularly in new markets.

Julian  Client Partner, UK

Julian joined 101 Ways in January 2019 coming into the business as Client Partner working alongside Kelly and the Crew to help develop the UK client portfolio.

Starting out on a Commodore 64 and building a neural-net speech recognition system using Borland C++ on his i486 at Loughborough University, Julian started out in the industry as a developer. Broadening his exposure in roles ranging from Tech Lead and Project Manager through to Head of Delivery Julian went on to work with renowned luminaries such as Martin Fowler and Jez Humble whilst at ThoughtWorks and ML and AI experts whilst at Google helping to shape and ensure the successful delivery of transformation programmes for his clients.

With over 25 years of experience in the software industry, Julian has a deep understanding of what works and what doesn’t and what it takes to set up engagements to successfully deliver intended outcomes.

Joshua  Client Partner, UK North

Joshua joined 101 Ways in June 2019. He has more than 5 years’ experience shaping complex commercial contracts, advising on transformations and building long lasting relationships up to Board level.

Before entering the world of Agile and tech consultancy, he had spent a number of years playing professional and semi-professional football.

Before joining 101 Ways, Joshua was the Head of Sales for a global Agile transformation consultancy, where he led a sales team and held ultimate responsibility for all commercial related matters.

Joshua is an advocate of driving change through tech and human interactions. As Client Partner of UK North Joshua is passionate about connecting with business leaders and businesses to help them achieve their goals and objectives through 101 Ways services.

Sanneke  Head of Brand & Community

Sanneke joined 101 Ways in the summer of ’18. She is responsible for growing community participation and adoption of 101 Ways in local markets and securing brand values globally.

In the past 15 years, she has been involved in a variety of international companies and tech start-ups. Taking the lead with international expansion, community building, engagement marketing, social media and (redesigning) brand strategies. As well as recruiting, hiring, training and managing international (remote) teams.

In addition Sanneke has probably organized over 150 events worldwide from leadership summits to b2b events, to local shop openings to informal get2gethers of communities.

Ally  Head of Talent

Ally joined 101 Ways as Head of Talent in March 2017.

Prior to Kelly setting up 101 Ways, Ally had been instrumental in identifying a number of senior individuals to fill some very challenging roles on projects Kelly was leading. Later, when 101 Ways was starting out, Ally worked with Kelly again to help attract some of the best people in the UK’s agile community to 101.

Having known Ally over a period of years, both Kelly and Zane consider Ally to be one of the best connected people in the industry, stealing a march on the competition in having her join the business.

With close to 10 years experience in recruitment in the tech industry (both in the UK and internationally), Ally is known for her positive, personable and highly pro-active approach. Someone whose knowledge of the market is second-to-none and who combines all of this with down-to-earth good humour.

In addition to being 101’s Head of Talent, Ally is also an integral part of the Leadership team, combining recruitment with onboarding new team members, community activities and social events.

Grace  Talent Specialist

Grace joined the Talent team in Spring 2018, where she focuses upon hiring for Engineering & Design, as well as getting involved with Women’s Tech Focus. (WTF Club)

Prior to this Grace worked for an independent Experience Design Consultancy as Head of Talent where she implemented HR and Recruitment processes to the org and made key hires across operations, engineering and design. Grace started out in agency recruitment where she hired Design talent for a number of growing startups, global brands and public sector organisations.

She looks forward to playing an integral part in 101 Ways next phase of growth within the UK and beyond!

Kate  Talent Specialist

Kate joined Ally & Grace on the Talent Team at 101 Ways in summer 2018.

Prior to this Kate hired top engineering talent for a number of scaling start-ups & well-known companies across the UK. She joins 101 Ways at a time of great growth & will be focusing on hiring across Engineering & Product & as well as growing our community club, CTO Zone; She looks forward to playing an integral part of 101 Ways next phase of growth not only in London but across the UK, NL & Europe!

With Kate joining also brought our first office dog, Huxley. Huxley can be found sleeping in our Innovation Labs or on Kelly’s knee!

Indi was one of the first people to join 101 Ways and has been instrumental in supporting our rapid growth, making sure everyone who joins 101 is onboarded quickly and effectively and made to feel welcome. Indi also supports the Talent team with recruitment admin when she’s not off having babies 🙂

Rach joined on International Women’s Day 2018 (March 8th) and is our Content Manager. She was a lawyer once upon a time but after changing career she landed at 101 Ways last via a number of other startups and a famous magazine publisher.

Annie  Office Manager
Annie joined at the beginning of November 2018 as 101 Ways inaugural office manager. She is responsible for contracts, invoicing and keeping the crew in check. Thanks to her, our plants are not only still alive but thriving.
Before 101 Ways, Annie worked for a local council in the social care team. She has several years’ experience in office management and is the first port of call for 101 Ways consultants who have any queries about anything from policies to timesheets to indoor horticulture

Hayley  PA to Kelly & Zane
As one of the longest standing members, Hayley joined 101 Ways back in 2016 after Kelly approached her with a need for PA support.  At the time 101 Ways consisted of Kelly and two other consultants. Hayley has truly seen the business evolve.
Hayley’s role is to proactively manage Kelly & Zane with their time management, client meetings, travel and provide general support. In the early days of 101 Ways, Hayley used to manage all the invoicing, accounting, events, communications and office management on top of her PA role. As we’ve grown. each of these areas are now individual roles within the business.
Before 101 Ways Hayley worked as a PA to the MD of Diageo a premium drinks company who produces the likes of Guinness, Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff and Ciroc.
