Kelly - Founder & CEO

Kelly is the founder and CEO of 101 Ways.

With over 30 years experience in the software industry, Kelly has a deep understanding of the tech space and what it takes to bring about successful product development and delivery.

Having begun his career originally as a developer, Kelly has gained a broad exposure to a range of different roles from Tech Lead and Project Manager through to Director of Engineering and CTO.

Kelly has a particularly good knowledge of the media and publishing industries. This is as a result of working with a number of international organisations in the sector for more than 20 years.

In 2010, Kelly was recognised for his work by the agile community when he won an award for being the ‘Most Valuable Agile Player in the UK’. In 2016 he also won an award for ‘most popular online contributor’ in the agile community.

Kelly continues to help shape the ‘agile’ debate both in the UK and abroad through a combination of regular industry speaking engagements and events as well as via his well-established blog.

Meanwhile, 101 Ways is going from strength to strength, quickly becoming one of the most sought-after technology consultancies in London.

Zane - COO

Zane is the COO of 101 Ways and combines this role alongside working for clients as an executive consultant. He is an expert in agile project/programme delivery and leadership.

Zane has more than 20 years experience in the software industry working in all aspects across development, business analysis, project management, development management and programme management.

Among his skills, Zane is well respected by clients and colleagues alike for his ability to build strong teams and align product and tech through practical agile techniques - enabling the delivery of quality digital, big data and integration solutions amongst others.

Prior to joining 101 Ways in 2016, Zane worked as a Delivery Principal for ThoughtWorks in Australia and the UK for close to 5 years, before which he had more than 10 years working for one of Australia’s largest software companies, TechnologyOne.

In his career to date, Zane has helped a variety of world-leading organisations in telco, financial services, media/publishing and e-commerce with agile project delivery and transformation.

Odhrán  Technical Director

Odhrán joined 101 Ways as Technical Director in March 2017. He has more than 20 years experience developing software, leading technical teams and providing leadership up to Board level.

Before being persuaded to make the move to 101 Ways by Kelly and Zane, he had spent 9 years working with The Guardian - one of the UK’s leading and best-known publishers.

At the time of leaving The Guardian, Odhrán was the Head of Software Development, where he led a team of 80 developers and held ultimate responsibility for producing the Guardian’s website, as well as the Guardian’s much-awarded app for Android and iOS.

As you might expect, Odhrán is a passionate advocate of all-things-tech and can frequently be found leading talks and discussions at 101 Ways’ Tech Club, ‘IWOMM’ (It Works On My Machine), among his favourite topics is his much-loved Commodore 64 - the machine he first learnt to code on.

Emma  Delivery Director

Emma began working with 101 Ways in 2015, bringing around 20 years experience in development, delivery, consulting, training and coaching with her. She has broad industry experience across public and private sectors - supporting organisations as they evolve their development, delivery and product capability.

As well as Emma’s client consulting, she’s also been very much involved with a number of the tech community’s industry bodies and organisations, helping to further develop and improve professional standards.

In this area, Emma’s worked with the Scrum Alliance to develop certification standards and examinations for the Certified Scrum Professional programme. Emma also serves on their European Gathering Team developing the program for the Global Scrum Gatherings in Europe.

In 2012, Emma was awarded a UK Agile Award, going on to become an awards judge.

Michael  Delivery Director

Michael first started working with 101 Ways in July 2016 as Delivery Director working alongside Kelly on a major project for Just Eat. He’s also a key member of the 101 Ways’ Crew and Leadership teams.

Prior to joining 101 Ways, Michael had gained more than 16 years experience in the technology and digital sectors in a combination of software development and delivery roles.

Michael has a real passion for solving the problems that are realised when organisations are trying to deliver at scale and, among his previous positions, he’s worked as a consultant for clients such as the UK Government Digital Service’s gov.uk (GDS), where the challenges don’t get much bigger!

From other lives, Michael also brings a real depth of experience working with Media giants such as ITV and Sky on streaming platforms, as well as time spent working with some of the big beasts within the financial services sector where he led major e-commerce projects.

Michael describes himself as, ‘more of an Agile centre forward than an Agile coach’. A real team player, he’s someone who prefers to be on the pitch, rather than shouting from the sidelines.

Mike  Product & Delivery Director

Mike joined 101 Ways in November 2016, coming into the business having built up over 17 years experience across product, delivery, software development, data, adtech, martech, and analytics.

Prior to joining 101 Ways, he worked with a variety of large, UK and international organisations and brands, each with multi-million unique users. Helping them to develop and deliver high volume, cross-platform digital and ecommerce platforms. In the course of his career he’s also consulted on key data and analytics projects for multinational telecoms, industrial, and travel industry clients.

In his role at 101 Ways, Mike continues to work with clients to develop and drive the next generation of digital product innovation.

Outside of his client work, Mike started 101 Ways’ own Product Club, and he’s a leading advocate for Product Management, lean transformation, and agile delivery.

Ally  Head of Talent, Leadership

Ally joined 101 Ways as Head of Talent in March 2017.

Prior to Kelly setting up 101 Ways, Ally had been instrumental in identifying a number of senior individuals to fill some very challenging roles on projects Kelly was leading. Later, when 101 Ways was starting out, Ally worked with Kelly again to help attract some of the best people in the UK’s agile community to 101.

Having known Ally over a period of years, both Kelly and Zane consider Ally to be one of the best connected people in the industry, stealing a march on the competition in having her join the business.

With close to 10 years experience in recruitment in the tech industry (both in the UK and internationally), Ally is known for her positive, personable and highly pro-active approach. Someone whose knowledge of the market is second-to-none and who combines all of this with down-to-earth good humour.

In addition to being 101’s Head of Talent, Ally is also an integral part of the Leadership team, combining recruitment with onboarding new team members, community activities and social events.

Jamie  Head of Talent, Tech

Jamie joined the team at 101 Ways in autumn 2016 and, alongside Ally, has been responsible for leading the charge in finding the very best talent to work on a range of major client projects.

Jamie's exposure to technology spans a decade and in that time, he’s worked with a number of well known businesses in the worlds of media and finance (among others). And although much of his career to-date has been focused in the area of talent acquisition, he's also spent time running a digital agency as well as having been part of a tech startup.

In the time he’s been with the business, Jamie says he’s particularly proud of being part of 101’s growth - in terms of both the team growth as well as its reputation.

In addition to always being on the hunt for great people to join 101 Ways, he’s very much involved in helping to develop the 101 Ways community through a range of social events and clubs.

Jamie’s also a self-confessed product enthusiast and, with his love for travel, has become a particular fan of Google Translate’s AR function!
