A market-leading UK-based subscription business, Gousto had to scale up its engineering teams at speed to cope with unprecedented demand for home-delivered recipe boxes triggered by the COVID pandemic. With two new factories coming on-line the pressure was on to get work done, ensuring projects were tightly aligned with business needs
Working with the VP of Engineering, 101 Ways shaped a new agile planning and governance process and paired experienced Agile Coaches and Delivery Managers with individual teams/squads to provide ‘on the job’ coaching for Gousto engineers.
101 Ways established an agile framework that empowers Gousto’s engineering teams to prioritise and streamline the delivery of initiatives while maintaining a tight focus on business continuity. Enabled by agile principles and practices, Gousto is now able to confidently manage its market growth trajectory with confidence.
COVID-19 dramatically changed people’s mindsets when it comes to buying and consuming food. In the face of accelerating consumer demand for personalised meal kit boxes featuring ready-measured fresh ingredients and recipes tailored to their exact preferences, Gousto needed to ensure it could double its on-demand services without disrupting the business.
101 Ways initiated a transformative agile framework and embedded new ways of working across the Gousto engineering function. Its experienced consultants transferred learning, helping teams with the day-to-day planning, prioritisation, and delivery of project roadmaps.
Having steered Gousto through the successful delivery of a number of major initiatives, the new agile framework and embedded ways of working means the business can continue its journey of continuous improvement under its own steam.
“We created a framework for Gousto’s sustained growth, enabling them to scale their engineering teams, meet increased customer demand, and implement new processes and team structures for future success.”
